Who looks after your data
[Business or owner name], who runs Sherbaazi. Questions: contact@sherbaazi.com.
What we collect
- Your details: name, email, phone number, city, and your photo and Instagram username if you give them.
- Your entry: your poem, its title and script, and your UPI ID for prize money.
- Payment records: the amount and Razorpay's payment reference. We never see your card or bank details.
- Results: your score and the judge's note.
- Login cookies: small files that keep you signed in. We don't use advertising cookies.
Why we use it
- To run the competition: take your entry and payment, judge it, and publish results.
- To email you your login code, receipt, score and, if you win, your certificate.
- To send prize money to your UPI ID.
- To prevent copying and multiple entries.
What becomes public
If you win, your name, city, photo and Instagram username (if you gave them) and your poem are shown on the Winners page and our social media, and we may tag you. Photos of poets who don't win are never shown publicly. Everything else, including your phone number, email and UPI ID, stays private. Judges see only your entry code.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share only what's needed with the services that run the website:
- Razorpay, for payments
- Supabase, which stores our database
- Vercel, which hosts the website
- Resend, which sends our emails
- An AI assistant (Anthropic's Claude), which helps score poems. It receives poems with entry codes only, never names or contact details.
How long we keep it
We keep entries and results so poets can see past results and certificates. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires. You can ask us to delete your details. Winning poems already published may stay on the Winners page with your name, unless you ask us to remove them. When you change or remove your photo, the old one is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw your permission, by emailing contact@sherbaazi.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
